Meet Kirtus Kwincy | Model and D.R.E.S.S. Syndrome Advocate

What’s a quote that fuels your passion?

" I live for the NOW in myself, not what everyone else is living for in that moment."

- Nelson Mandela

Kirtus your Humble Takeover is your story. Although one post could not tell your whole story, we are glad to highlight a few of your Great efforts. Tell the family where you started and how you got to where you are today.

My name is Kirt Thibodeaux II, also known as "Kirtus Kwincy". I'm 31 years old from Saint Martinville, LA. I was diagnosed with D.R.E.S.S. Syndrome in the summer of 2017, Alopecia in August, and Vitiligo in November, all of that same year. My current venture is modeling and advocating for D.R.E.S.S. Syndrome and the two immune disorders (vitiligo & alopecia), I am currently living with.

Which chapter in your story inspired your current venture?

“Ok, so I started out with a few in-grown hairs on my face and it wasn't too much of an issue until it started to become irritated and develop bumps and white heads and bleed in the area where the hair was growing back in. After a while of dealing with the issue, I decided to seek out some medical help and visit a dermatologist. I was prescribed an acne medication called minocycline and had a very severe allergic reaction within the first month of taking the medication. The allergic reaction took over pretty quickly, causing my skin to fall off causing my vitiligo and also the alopecia over my entire body. I have  been in some dark spaces these past few years and I mean some really dark spaces just trying to adjust and be as confident in my skin as possible. This has been a test to say the least, but having my sanity has been one of my greatest gifts and biggest testimony thus far.

I wouldn't necessarily say a chapter in my story inspired me to start my current venture, it's more so of me being who I am and knowing the responsibility that's been placed upon me. I feel it is my duty to uplift and inspire others in my position, simply because I know how it is to not really understand where to go next  and how to deal with yourself.”

What keeps you Humble through your success and failure in Life?

Honestly, what keeps me humble is knowing that no matter who you are, where you are, or how you perceive yourself; your looks, confidence, hell even your life can be switched up or even taken away right in front of you.

What advice would you offer our family who is writing their own story?

“Advice for the family I feel like I could offer is, "Stay true to yourself!" As long as you have your core support group around, nothing and no one else really matters.”

Do you have any upcoming events or projects you would like to share?

I'll be featured in an online web series called "Shake my Beauty" and I also have a line of "empowerment" apparel coming out pretty soon,  "Cryin' Melanin".
