Meet Emmanuel Baker | Entrepreneur and Investor
What’s a quote that fuels your passion?
“The mindset isn’t about seeking a result – it’s more about the process of getting to that result. It’s about the journey and the approach. It’s a way of life. I do think that it’s important, in all endeavors, to have that mentality.”
– Kobe Bryant
Emmanuel, your Humble Takeover is your story. Although one post could not tell your whole story, we are glad to highlight a few of your Great efforts. Tell the family where you started and how you got to where you are today.
My name is Emmanuel Baker and I am a 27 year old entrepreneur from Monroe, LA. My entrepreneurial journey didn't just start. I've always been an entrepreneur since I was a kid. My grandfather played a major role in choosing this journey. My grandpa was a successful business owner in the early 1970s where he owned one of the most well-renowned barbershops in the area and real estate. As a kid my grandfather gave me my first business idea and funding for the business. My first business was a shoe shine stand in my grandpa's barbershop. This showed me how to run a business at the age of 10 years old. As a result of my grandfather’s mentoring, I've been running successful businesses since that day. He showed me how a business is supposed to be run at a high level with integrity, ethics, customer service and much more. As we fast forward today, I own and operate a real estate company, Pratique Estates, tax firm, A&E Financial Services, and an investment company, Owl Investment Group.
Which chapter in your story inspired your current venture?
My grandfather inspired me as a kid to be an entrepreneur. As a kid when people asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up I always said an entrepreneur. I wanted to be just like my grandpa when I grew up. He set the example for me as a kid and I knew that was the journey I wanted to embark on. The biggest inspiration to my current ventures is legacy and generational wealth. I wanted to keep my grandpa’s legacy alive and start my own as well so that my kids, grandkids and their kids will inherit businesses to keep the legacy going. When I started investing in real estate after college I chose this as one of my vehicles to build wealth for my family.
What keeps you Humble through your success and failure in Life?
GOD and my upbringing keeps me humble. The core principles and values my family taught me as a kid are those I still live by everyday. I know the value of hard work and all the sacrifices it's taken me to reach the heights I have so far in life and I also know it can be taken away if I’m not using it to bless others and as GOD sees fit. I look at failure as an opportunity to learn and get better. I've never been scared to fail at something and I think that’s one of the biggest factors to my success.
What advice would you offer our family who is writing their own story?
Everyone’s journey is different and that’s what makes you unique. You might be in a different chapter in your journey but don’t give up. My advice is to keep God first, chase your dreams, stay consistent, focus on one thing at a time and embrace the process and the journey because every phase of your journey will be required of you one day. Remember life is a marathon not a sprint, so keep running your race.
Do you have any upcoming events or projects you would like to share?
