What’s a quote that fuels your passion?

There's actually a poem that fuels my passion. The poem that fuels my passion is, "Our Deepest Fear" by Marianne Williamson

Chas, your Humble Takeover is your story. Tell the family where you started and how you got to where you are today.

Growing up, I struggled with figuring out what I wanted to do in life. It wasn't until I went on an Atlanta college tour with my church in high school that I figured out I wanted to be in the fashion industry. From there, I went to school for Fashion Merchandising and loved the program. However, there were a couple of classes that really helped me realize the passion I really had within other parts of the creative industry. One class I discovered a talent of recreating items using sustainability. Another class I worked as a stylist and had to create editorials. After college, I started creative directing photo shoots and using creative ideas to develop props using sustainability. People say, "A picture is worth a thousand words." I found that my gift was to create those photos that's worth a thousand words. I bought a camera, learned the aesthetics of using the camera, and started creating.

Which chapter in your story inspired your current venture?

The process of how I got into the photography industry is interesting. I studied Fashion in college. During undergrad, I took a class where I had to choose if my semester long project was to be a designer, stylist, or buyer. I chose to be a stylist. The process of the semester-long project was to create editorials using different fashion aspects and I instantly fell in love with the process of creating photoshoots. I was inspired by many things around me. After college, I still had the drive to want to create. My first photoshoot after college was called, "Yearbook." It was inspired by all of the Black Lives Matter movements from Trayvon Martin to Alton Sterling. However, during the process of that photoshoot, there was a conflict in schedule and our photoshoot started later than expected. That is where the turning point started. I invested into my own equipment, found mentors, and started learning how photography actually worked instead of just creative directing. After taking some time to learn the functions I needed to learn to get started, I started Rise Up Productions LLC. Rise Up Productions LLC vision is to tell people's stories through photos. Remember, "A picture is worth a thousand words."

What keeps you Humble through your success and failure in Life?

"What keeps me humble through my success is remembering the process I've went through get where I am today. Remembering all the failures were not just failures, but lessons on how to improve. Also, the overall vision of success is greater than my ego.’’

What advice would you offer our family who is writing their own story?

Everyone has a story to tell and a different way of telling it. Do not think your story is ever too big or too small for people to hear. Understand the gift God gave you and apply it to help someone else tell their story. You'll never know who you would have an impact on or who's life you may save.

Do you have any upcoming events or projects you would like to share?

I'm currently working on a huge project for myself. I am preparing to share a part of my story with the world through photos. Then, I will open the opportunity to have other people impact the world by visually creating their story. I also will be starting a wardrobe styling branch of the business.

We’d love to hear more stories, please suggest 5 other persons writing their own story and Conquering the World.
